Danny Anckle’s energy electrifies a room. It’s no wonder he’s a highly regarded consultant, facilitator and public speaker. He’s also a DiverseCity onBoard roster member who believes in the power of diversity on boards to inspire the next generation.
“DiverseCity OnBoard helped me learn how boards operate and equipped me to serve. Without the program, I wouldn’t have known about opportunities – and they wouldn’t have heard about people like me.”
Danny has worked in community and organizational development since 1987, initially in London, England and, now, in Toronto. He holds a Child and Youth Work Diploma from George Brown College and is a graduate of the York University-Maytree Foundation Executive Directors’ Institute. His work focuses on marginalized communities including children, families and youth at risk, around issues of access, equity, anti-racism and diversity.
Currently Executive Director at the Dovercourt Boys & Girls Club, Danny leads an agency committed to identifying and responding to the changing needs of children, adolescents and families in a multicultural, urban community. He was previously the Council Executive Director at Scouts Canada and Executive Director of Leave Out Violence (LOVE).
An accomplished and devoted community leader, Danny has developed a number of workshops including Child Behaviour Management Skills, and Parenting Your Teen. DiverseCity OnBoard helped place him on a number of boards, including the Ontario College of Teachers, where he is on his second term.
Danny is also a roster member of DiverseCity Voices.
