Who are DiverseCity Fellows?
DiverseCity Fellows are individuals who are passionate about city building and have made a demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively to help improve of the city region, whether in their work or volunteer commitments. Each Fellows cohort is a diverse group of leaders working across the Toronto region in the public, private and non-profit sectors.
What is the time frame of the 2012 program?
The program will formally run from January 2012 to December 2012. Fellows should be prepared to continue working on their projects and maintaining their mentoring relationship for several months after the completion of the formal program.
What is the estimated time commitment of the program?
The Fellows program is a part-time program that requires a commitment of approximately 20 hours per month. This includes one overnight retreat and approximately 15 Fellows learning sessions, which take place on some workdays, evenings and weekends. Fellows must be able to attend 90% of these sessions.
Fellows also work in teams on city building projects and must be able to meet regularly with their project teams and complete related work. In addition Fellows are expected to participate actively in their mentor relationship and networking opportunities. Project meetings and activities as well as mentorship meetings take place outside of the Fellows sessions. Successful candidates will receive a comprehensive schedule of activities along with their offers.
Given the intensive nature of the program, as well as the scheduling of some events during work hours, Fellow should obtain the support of their employers to participate in the program.
