This process of change can take time. It is not simply a question of recruitment. Often a change in thinking is required first.
Most of us have pre-conceived ideas of what leadership is. And what leadership looks like. In order to enable new leadership to emerge, these notions must be challenged. Once challenged, new ways of thinking and operating can surface. In this climate, leaders of all stripes will have the space to come forward and take their place at the top.
We have practiced and documented a process to help you facilitate conversation and storytelling on the topics of diversity and leadership. As part of DiverseCity Perspectives, we led training sessions with forward-thinking organizations across the GTA. Read what we have learned in our report: Perspectives on Transforming Leadership (PDF). And we produced a series of video stories on leadership that provide perspectives from different organizations across the region that you can show at your dialogue event.
