Our images of leadership do not always show the full diversity of leadership that exists

Colin Clarke, Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra

Leaders recognize they can use their public presence in order to change perceptions of who a leader is and can be.

“I decided if that’s not what certain people expect, then I needed to get out there more. The idea of someone of my genre, my culture, my background leading a large symphonic group…   Maybe our community needs to see more of that so that they can appreciate that there are talents in all different colours, shapes, sizes, what have you. So I decided not to apologize for who I am and where I came from but to do it even more.”
